Father's Day/ First Day of Summer
Even though I’m disappointed in the weather during my excursion to the Eastern Shore of the US following a gruelling week of conference-going in DC (SLA and see our twitter feed) , I am blessed to spend the time in a beautiful environment with great friends and get re-energized. And I am always happy to see such great Google pics as today’s Father Day/First day of Summer/Beach pic. Let’s celebrate these ocassions, and hope for a great sunny summer with just enough rain to keep our ecosystem balanced and happy too!
Even better than last year’s pic for Earth Day. Thanks Google. Makes my day; especially the coral & undersea world combined with the green & waterfall. So peaceful, don’t you want to live there?
Isn’t this an interesting Google pic? Reminded me of snow and red rock. I love the southwest of the US with its wonderful red rock, always stimulates me when I’m around it. And to see red rock hills and mountains with snow is such a treat.
However, this Google pic was designed for a different reason. “In 1890, Italian astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli drew this map of Mars… on his 174th birthday, we are excited to include his work with many other new features for Mars in Google Earth.
We salute Schiaparelli’s pioneering spirit, his drive to explore, and his desire to understand the universe. His observations impacted the way humans viewed Mars for nearly a century and started a revolution in Astronomy.” Pioneering, exploration, understanding, thinking, stimulating…. well maybe there is a connection!
Google’s Earth Day scenario with the little turtle in front reminded me of a cool book that Rebecca and I used years ago in a creativity session with clients, Wheel of Wisdom: A Turtle & Hare Journey to Your Dream by Canadian author, Angelika Clubb. The book is “for anyone who has ever had a dream or longs to find one” and helps you “tap into the energies of your inner turtle and hare to give your dream a plan and put a great plan behind your dreams.” The inner hare is the visionary who spins out the dream and the turtle is the planner who grounds the dream and takes it forward, one step at a time. Turtle teaches focus, discipline, patience and helps align the plan to the dream. Hare teaches courage, thinking in possibilities, creative imagination and helps let go in order to seed a new dream. Thanks, Google pic for reminding of this fun book.
Going green is a real theme these days and I love Google’s contribution today for St. Patrick’s Day! I’m hoping that going green will also be a theme this year at conferences I’m involved with. Just think, less paper — bring on the USB’s instead of binders & books! Or maybe password protected websites like the Internet World conference had in the 90’s, yes eons ago in web time!
