Just heard Chip Heath, Author of Made to Stick: The Six Hooks of Successful Ideas speak at SLA’s Leadership Summit. Good speaker who maintains that sticky ideas have things in common. They are:
* simple
* unexpected
* concrete
* credible
* emotional
* stories
Which, of course, spells SUCCESS. Chip also talked about the “curse of knowledge”, or knowing more than those with whom we are trying to communicate. He talked about how this curse is a barrier to implementing ideas and referenced Steve Denning and his book, Springboard Stories. Steve has spoken for me at KMWorld & Intranets and other conferences and events, like this audio talk for the Education Institute last year.
