A topic of interest, especially since I’m involved with webcom Toronto — Building Smarter Organizations, Apr 10-12. So this new blog, Fastforward, is very interesting with such posts as:
* Sense of ownership will drive Enterprise 2.0 adoption, Dana Gardner
* Harvard Business School case study on Wikipedia, Hylton Jolliffe
* Tips for gaining adoption of Enterprise 2.0 technologies, Jim McGee
* Twelve tips for gaining adoption, Bill Ives* Warning Bells, Euan Semple
Interesting discussions!

Great article about SLA member Amy Affelt, Director, Database Research and Senior Analyst, and the online library at Lexecon. Great quotes from her management and clients. Amy lives by the ” the 15-minute rule” — research analysts are told to limit their Internet searching to 15 minutes per query. If they spend 15 minutes searching and cannot find what they are looking for, she recommends that they contact the Database Research Department.

Just heard Chip Heath, Author of Made to Stick: The Six Hooks of Successful Ideas speak at SLA’s Leadership Summit. Good speaker who maintains that sticky ideas have things in common. They are:
* simple
* unexpected
* concrete
* credible
* emotional
* stories
Which, of course, spells SUCCESS. Chip also talked about the “curse of knowledge”, or knowing more than those with whom we are trying to communicate. He talked about how this curse is a barrier to implementing ideas and referenced Steve Denning and his book, Springboard Stories. Steve has spoken for me at KMWorld & Intranets and other conferences and events, like this audio talk for the Education Institute last year.

At Internet Librarian in Oct 2006 there was much discussion about libraries using YouTube, Facebook, MySpace and other venues to communicate with clients and raise awareness of services. In viewing the inventive ways libraries are using these spaces Information Today decided to award the most creative libraries with (wait for it—-) InfoTubeys! The first InfoTubeys will be presented at Computers in Libraries, April 17th, 2007. Awards for the top 5 YouTube productions will be presented to organizations or individuals for outstanding work that demonstrates creativity, humor, and sincerity (of course) in marketing a library or library services or enhancing the library’s value. Knowing Information Today, the award-winning productions will also be available on their site.
